Dearest Earthlings,
I hope you are faring well during this beautiful (but sometimes too hot!) summer.
As the Hopi Elders might ask: How are your gardens doing?

We had two open garden days at the Sanctuary Garden in June, one for peonies and one for roses. We will have another in August for dahlias. Date to be announced.

My favorite blog is called ’Soul of the Earth’ by Betsey Crawford. In this issue https://thesouloftheearth.com/traditional-ecological-knowledge/ she describes the care of our continent before 1492. Europeans arrived, saw the park-like beauty, and mistakenly thought of it as untouched wilderness. It was actually more like a carefully tended garden that maximized the health of ecosystems, animals and humans.
Betsey’s magnificent photos of wildflowers and interspersed with the writing, as always.
I say to you,
Enjoy and Learn!
